The story behind the cover.
James Butler writes about the military, family and a promise made to the family of a fallen soldier. His account centres on the life and loss of SGT Jacob Lee and the responsibility of remembering a person beyond a uniform.
A closer look
The thinking
in the artwork.
The soldier’s silhouette stands against a violet horizon, with a small point of light drawing the eye. A bold condensed title gives the lower half of the cover a direct, graphic rhythm.
