Frequently asked
questions.

Royalties, rights, formats and the first step. Find the answers authors ask us for most often.

How does Publishing Core work as an independent service provider?

Publishing Core offers optional writing, editing, design and production support for a separately agreed service fee. You choose the services you need. Third-party publishing platforms have their own accounts, eligibility rules, fees and royalty terms; our service fee does not buy platform access or guaranteed sales.

Who owns my publishing accounts and receives the royalties?

Your publishing accounts should be registered in your own name or business, with your own contact and payment details. You retain control of those accounts and receive platform payments directly under the provider's terms. Any assistance and access must be agreed with you; do not send passwords or payment credentials through this website's forms or chat.

Are the studio cover concepts published client books?

No. The covers labelled Studio concept are original design demonstrations created for this website. They show approaches to typography, layout and genre; they are not presented as published books, client commissions, sales results or endorsements. Cover design projects are identified separately and credit our design work. A portfolio entry is not a claim that Publishing Core published the book.

What are book royalties?

Royalties are the earnings a retailer or publishing platform pays you for eligible book sales under its terms. They are not necessarily the full selling price: the platform's royalty rate, printing costs and other applicable charges affect the amount you receive.

Does Publishing Core take a share of my royalties?

No. Publishing Core takes no agency share of your book royalties. You keep 100% of the author royalties paid by your chosen platforms. Our agreed service fees are separate; retailer royalty rates, printing costs and third-party platform charges still apply. Keeping your royalties does not mean receiving 100% of a book's retail price.

What is self-publishing, and how do you help?

Self-publishing means you arrange the preparation and release of your book rather than relying on a traditional publisher to select and fund it. You can commission support for writing, editing, cover design, formatting and publication tasks. We agree on the work, responsibilities and author approvals before your project begins.

Will my book and creative decisions remain mine?

Sharing your manuscript for an inquiry does not transfer its copyright to Publishing Core. Before paid work starts, we agree on the rights to completed work, the files you will receive, account access, author approvals and any third-party licenses. These details belong in your written proposal or project agreement.

Do I need a finished manuscript to get started?

No. You can begin with an idea, an outline, a partial draft, or a completed manuscript. Tell us what you have and what you want to achieve so we can discuss a suitable starting point.

Can I choose just one service?

Yes. You can discuss a single service, such as editing or cover design, or plan several stages together. Your proposal will identify the work included and any material we need from you.

Which book formats can we discuss?

We can discuss paperback, hardcover, eBook, and audiobook projects. Each format has different production requirements, so the editions and delivery files will be confirmed as part of your scope.

Can you help me publish for readers around the world?

Yes. We support authors with preparation for global self-publishing platforms, including print, digital and audio options within the agreed scope. We discuss the platforms that suit your book. Availability, account eligibility, language support and distribution territories depend on each provider; a listing does not guarantee placement in every bookstore or country.

How long will my book project take?

The schedule depends on your manuscript's stage, length, the services selected and the review rounds needed. We discuss a realistic plan after reviewing the material. Your feedback, approvals and any platform review requirements can affect the final timing.

How is project pricing worked out?

Pricing depends on the service, manuscript length and condition, production complexity, deliverables, and schedule. After reviewing those details, we can prepare a scoped quote for you to consider.

What is an ISBN, and do I need one?

An ISBN is a book identifier used to distinguish an edition and format. Whether you need one depends on the format and publishing platform. We can discuss your platform's requirements and available options as part of the publishing plan, including who will be listed as the publisher where applicable.

Will publishing guarantee sales or bestseller status?

No. Publishing and marketing can help prepare and present your book, but sales depend on readers, positioning, pricing, promotion and many other factors. We agree on specific services and deliverables rather than promising sales, bestseller rankings or universal retail placement.

What is the first step?

Use the consultation form to share your manuscript stage, the service you are considering, and your goals. That gives us a useful starting point for reviewing the project and planning the next conversation.
